5.1. Safety and Health Management Systems

It is widely regarded that Australian mines and regulatory regimes are at the forefront of safety and health management.

APP Project 4 - Hazard Identification and Risk Management provides an overview of the Australian safety and health management systems and application.

Currently an APP flagship project is being carried out to demonstrate the mine safety management system and risk assessment approach at Xuandong mine in China.

Training and education is being undertaken globally within companies with Australian operations, to organically extend this approach. This training can also be made available to APP countries either within Australia or directly to the country of interest.
