Information:

At the time of the incident overburden was being dumped in an area which was away from the working area of the coal crew. An overburden truck operator noticed the dump area was full, and chose to dump in another location. As a result, he dumped the load of overburden in the dump area directly above the working area of the coal crew. A large rock in the load of overburden, rolled down the spoil pile, passing within 5 metres of the water truck, eventually coming to rest on the pit floor in the working area of the coal crew. No damage or injury was sustained by the operator of the water truck from the incident, however the potential for serious injury and damage was significant.
