Information:

To remind owners, employers and workers of their obligations under the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2007, Workplace Health and Safety Regulations and Australian Standards in relation to use of concrete placing booms.

Following reports of concrete placing booms being used to lift plant and material onto building sites around the Darwin region, NT WorkSafe advises that the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2007, the Workplace Health and Safety Regulations and relevant Australian Standards will be strictly enforced.

Additionally reports of workers refusing to wear hard hats when exposed to the risk of head injury have also been received. The relevant sections of the Act, regulations and standards are referenced for the information of operators of concrete placing booms and workers in the construction industry.
